If you have time for an extended stay, Colorado has many beautiful national parks to offer. The following are within a few hours drive of Boulder.
Estes, CO is often called the "Gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park" because it is the eastern entrance to the park. Although you can visit and hike around Estes for free, visitors are recommended to plan their trips into the park:
